Living Words of Encouragement
TEMPATION WILL COME
How Will You Handle It?
In the 4th chapter of Matthew we find the account of Jesus being tempted by the devil. If the devil tempted JESUS the Ultimate One, why would you think he, the devil, would not try to tempt you? The devil knows that you want to walk according to Gods will, and that you want to serve God with a committed heart. But, he the devil will do whatever it takes to try to get your focus off of God.
Even when JESUS was in his weak fleshly state after fasting for forty days and nights, and the devil came to tempt Him, HE knew something’s about the FATHER. He told the devil through the temptations: (1) He could do without the bread as long as He had the Father (Matt 4:4). (2) He told the devil don’t try to put God to the test (Matt 4:7). (3) Then He told the devil He had to worship the Father only…. (Matt 4:10).
We have to be like Jesus when temptation comes our way. We have to stand on the Word of God and call the devil a liar. Tell the devil he has no power over you because you are committed to worshipping the One True God. (I Cor 13:10) says, No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”
When you are in Christ Jesus the Lord will keep you and although you will be tempted God always gives you a way of escape.
Remember, the problem is that that when temptation comes our way we are not focused on God, so we can’t see clearly take the way of escape!
