Living Words of Encouragement

LOSING SIGHT

Have you ever wanted something so bad and really worked hard to get it? However, when you finally got it you realized it was not that great. So often, in our desire to have more and become more popular we lose sight of who should be most important in our life. We often become so busy climbing the ladders of life to attain more of everything material that we often lose sight of God.

Living Words of Encouragement BookDon’t store treasures for yourselves here on earth where moth and rust will destroy them and thieves can break in and steal them. But store your treasures in heaven where they cannot be destroyed by moths or rust and where thieves cannot break in and steal. Your heart will be where your treasure is. The eye is a light for your body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. And if the only light you have is really darkness, then you have the worst darkness. No one can serve two masters. The person will hate one master and love the other, or will follow one master and refuse to follow the other. You cannot serve both God and worldly riches. (Matthew 6:19-24)

We can work to attain all the things of the world but without God our life is meaningless. Think about all the movies stars and rich people in the media. You can make more money, have a big house, drive a fine car, eat the finest delicacies, wear the best clothes, and have eloquent speech. We can have all these things and be miserable. We can make people think that we are all that, but God knows the real you and me. We can’t deceive Him. Ask yourself; am I on the right road leading me in the right direction?

Everyday we need to apply ourselves to the Word of God to help us stay on track, to help us not lose sight of what is most important in our life. Staying in Gods presence will help us to get on and stay on the right road.

Remember, now that you’re saved your heart should belong to God, so keep your sight on Him!
