Living Words of Encouragement

Finding Time to Pray

God is never too busy to meet our needs. So, why is it that too often people don’t take time with Him in prayer? God’s word says that we should always pray. That we should pray without ceasing. (I Thessalonians 5:17) We should go before God with earnest and sincere prayers. (Deut 3:24) In this passage, we see that Moses was constantly before the Lord reminding Him of His greatness.

Living Words of Encouragement BookDo you daily take time to pray or do you only pray when something does not go the way you want it to? Is prayer important to you? Do you believe that prayer is a gift from God, something to be cherished and nurtured?

God wants us to come to Him daily in prayer. Often during the day, He desires for us to call on Him. He loves us so much that He wants to stay in constant fellowship with us. He wants us to talk to Him and give Him time to speak to us.

Here is a prayer by an unknown author. I pray that it’s not you, but if it is, let it touch your heart and begin to take the time and go before God in prayer.

I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.
All day long, I had no time
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.
I went before the Lord,
I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book;
It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said
"Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time"
Unknown

When we take the time to pray we fulfill the desire within us that needs to have contact with God. We need to know Him in a personal way and prayer brings us to that state. God wants us to thirst after Him.

Remember, God wants you to come to Him with your earnest and sincere prayers.
